Haris Pamfilis

“My artistic practice explores the shift from realism to lived experience; from the known to the hidden. Medicine relies on facts to traverse the surface of matter, only to be forgotten in time. Art shares the very same fate.”

I was born in Athens in 1960. I am a practicing specialist in Internal Medicine, having graduated from the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 1988.

I served as a medical officer in the Hellenic Air Force and completed my rural medical service at Ikaria General Hospital. I completed my residency in Internal Medicine at "Agioi Anargyroi" and "Laiko" General Hospitals in 1997.

I worked for several years in collaboration with "SOS Doctors" (since 1997) and with Athens hospitals (including Hygeia and Euroclinic) since 2000. Over the last few years, I have been running a private practice in Kifisia, specializing exclusively in adult family medicine.

My parallel journey in art began in my youth. In 2017, I turned toward a more systematic study, attending painting classes at the studios of Panagiotis Beltekos and Vasilis Soulis, while I continue taking classes at the studio of Miltos Golemas to this day.

In 2024, my need for collective expression led me to found the art collective "Atheras Project". This volunteer initiative, rooted on the island of Ikaria, brings together scientists, artists, cultural professionals, and art lovers.

Through our shared creative expression, we aim to raise awareness about the alteration of the natural landscape and the misuse of public space caused by human intervention.

During the same period, I expanded my practice through visual arts and bodily expression, participating in the Performance Lab of the National Theatre of Greece under the coordination of Dimitra Nikolopoulou.
