EKDOREAS: Killing animals—for sacrifice, protection, food, dominance, research, disease spread, clothing, luxury, hobby, pleasure, display. I paint their skin with egg tempera, elevating it as artwork and symbol of human sovereignty. Using eggs and the ancient egg tempera technique, I create surfaces and extract skin-like forms, evoking remnants of animal bodies. A visual slaughterhouse. Egg tempera has historical use in Egyptian Fayum portraits, the Middle Ages and Byzantine art.
